Speaker baffles a good idea or no?

I just bought some RSD6.5cs off a member here and I ordered the matching coaxials for my rear seats. The rear seats were stock 6.5 subwoofers with baffles already there for increased stock bass so I didn't really need any back there. (I'm amping with my own amp instead of the monsoon system, so the coaxials will be getting a full range signal). Since I was ordering from sonic already, I went ahead and threw a pair of baffles in for the front (RSD6.5cs). Is it a good idea to use these in a component install? I know they will shield the speakers from the elements a bit, but will they hurt or increase SQ?

Thanks for any help.

Baffles?? The xtc foam things? They might impede midbass as they are somewhat restrictive of air flow. I just cut the bottom out of them. Leave the top for drip protection, but with the bottom open so the mid can breath into the door //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I think the foam baffles help in most cases. It is usually hard to get the T/S specs on the woofer part of a coax and some components. So it is hard to see if the speaker really works well in an IB set up. I do not agree with the blanket statement above. Most vocal drivers work great in a small space ad it usually helps midbass reinforcement. Most vocal drives get very sloppy when trying to play woofer and sub woofer frequencies. I like high passing them in a 2 way setup between 80-120Hz. This usually has a great effect on the sound quality of the driver. Also if you have the back wave of a full range being hit by the front wave of a sub woofer you really should keep that from happening. (Like on a deck lid)

Yes. Only thing is the leads will be encased in resin. Keep in mind that this is an assumption.

I agree with every one above. OFC is much better. Copper is a much better conductor than aluminum.
