you got any graphs or pics of the numbers? at what freq?

Yeah that would be really the only real proof at what does better. I mean we can take your word for it that the r destroyed it. But then again with the prices on those tcab boxes I think I would rather see some proof. Mind you I have the r's and finally got everything tuned just right. I would still take the rlp over the r's. Just not in my budget.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I vote for the Rlp, just cuz Alpins subs ****, and all the tools on this forum that think they are gods gift to the sub world. I mean its not like they are equivalent to the new Lightning Audio subs

Well if I have heard 1 15'' Type R ported off of 1500 watts and was not impressed, then I highly doubt I will be impressed if I had mine ported off 1100 watts and in a trunk of a cavalier.
on the flip, I've heard them in many sized sealed boxes... and they dont even come CLOSE to what they can do ported.

the 15 was probably in a box that was too small.

We had the RL-P in a perfectly suitable ported box. It got its *** handed to it by the type-r.
as far as SPL goes... the R spanked it... even *one coil* on the R spanked it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

I can't find the thread, who knows where it went... but I still have SPL test results. Also note the volume's are different because the woofs had varying power handling, the RL-P cried at volume 25, the scores should have actually been at volume 24.. the type S didn't mind it as much. The type R ate up the full brunt of the 2500d @ 2 ohm. If I remember correctly, at the same volume level as the other 2 woofers, it was approx 2db quieter than its full score.

RLP 12 2500d @ 2 ohm )dual 4 ohm driver)

140.6 volume 25 freq 40hz (tuned to ~33hz)

139.6 volume 25 freq 55hz (tuned to ~33hz)

143.4 volume 25 freq 55hz (tuned to ~40hz)

----

type R 12 2500d @ 2 ohm )one coil of a dual 2)

143.4 volume 27 freq 44hz (tuned to ~33hz)

147.1 VOLUME 27 FREQ 50HZ (tuned to ~40hz)

----

type S 12 2500d @ 2 ohm )dual 4 ohm driver)

145.5 volume 25 freq 55hz (tuned to ~40hz)

141.5 VOLUME 25 FREQ 50HZ (tuned to ~33hz)

Was wondering which will sound best... I like mainly rap music, blues, and some R & B on occasaion. I'd push two of either one of them at 1000 RMS(500 each).
initially where did this become an spl thing....an spl box would sound like doo doo to some blues

that doesnt really make the type r a better daily subwoofer you know......just that it can fart a note louder than the rl-p doesnt really mean much to the average person. Im glad you guys found your perfect comp sub for you but please stop making it sound like its the best sub like some of you do......

my vote is for the rl-p. i heard a new type r and wasnt shocked or anything but it was nice but then again it wasnt in a tcab box......

If you notice, with the higher tuning, the RL-P was peaking HIGHER than the type R... The type R by no means is a fart woofer, quite the contrary... you *can't* get it to do a number past 50hz, thats where it starts to ****.

Just SPL results, SQ results in these boxes actually yielded the type S as the best woofer.

SQ in the RL-P's box was much much better, but it still wasn't loud.

can't agree with you more. i had great success in terms of spl with the rl-p's in my daily box so if a type r "spanks" an rl-p then it would be so loud i couldn't sit in my ****ing car.

Thats exactly how I feel, my Rl-p is plenty loud for me, and SQ is night and day between the R. Eventually the hype for the type-r will go down then we can all be happy. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

i put up good numbers with my rl-p's but i'm not part of the tcab so it means nothing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

i think theyll both be plenty loud for daily.....but you only have about 500 rms on tap which is right up the rl-p's alley....i dont know about the r tho.......port them both and you'll be plenty happy with either setup.
