Was wondering which will sound best... I like mainly rap music,blues, and some R & B on occasaion. I'd push two of either one of them at 1000 RMS(500 each).

that's like apples and oranges. why not port the rl-p's? they work well ported.

I'd have to lean to the RL-P if you are going straight SQ, although it is subjective, so the type-r MAY satisfy your needs (for alot cheaper i might add).

It's a toss up really, if you port the type-r and the RL-P, the type-r will take it in sheer output, but SQ may suffer a little.

you forgot that the surround looks much better than the type r's and that it has like 6mm more xmax!! and its like 1.5" less mounting depth

oh yeah and the rl-p is like $100 more so they ya have it, its $100 better
