Sound not to my liking??

Well after tweaking the amp some it seems to be as loud, just don't seem to have the same pressure on the bass. I was wondering when setting gains with a dmm, do I do wattage from the lowest wattage, meaning the amp is 1650wrms @ 2 an the sub is 1500wrms, that is underrated so what wattage do I use to find out the gain setting?? And as of now I have NO headlight dimming, and from what I think I know, headlight dimming doesn't mean clipping all the time, it just means that your pushing wattage?? That is why i originally wanted to change amps is better efficiency out of my current electrical.
..some powerful toys you are playing with... Headlight dimming is a very good indicator that you are over stressing your vehicle's electrical system. You can run 50 watts through that DD from now on and not hurt it, if the signal is kept from clipping. The purpose of setting your gains to begin with is to match the amplifiers input section to the head unit max (to be conservative)RCA output voltage. You should research your amp's manual for recommended gain level adjustment.

If you are not getting the output your ears desire without over stressing your electrical or CLIPPING the sub, you should look to other areas of system tune such as box design, multiple sub design, etc.

Why would I want to run 50 watts to my dd? Lol anyways maybe I am underestimating the importance of a well built box? But I didnt know that a box could change the pressure of a sub. Kinda hard to explain the change. But there sure is a change that you can notice.

lol...IMO, you swapped a High End amp for a wanna be.. but what is done is done, right? You have alot of power on tap still., you might be hearing something as simple as a difference in Dampening Factors or THD, or just a matter of reserve power dynamics and operating efficiency. The old amp might have been more efficient on the top end with better control over the sub. Some things never change, and you get what you pay for.

To compensate for the differences in sound quality, you should start with enclosure design...possibly even a 4th order band pass design.

I get what I paid for don't apply here. I may have gotten ripped off but the crescendo was $200 more than the Orion lol, but igot the Orion at a pretty good price.
I don't think you got ripped, you just got a different amp. If you started with the Crescendo, you would never have know a difference. A new Orion HCCA25001 is $1300.00 vs $680 for a new Bass Clef.

View attachment 26533562do something like this with a little less port...
That is similar to what I have, except for the port is faced back.

I should clarify: I do not consider Orion "High End" by the term's origins...They do git er done right though, if you can back them up.
Thats something else I had considered that maybe the 1600 @ 2 on the Orion was maybe 12v or thereabout, and the 1650 @ 2 on the Crescendo was 14v.
