Alright.
So I read up on all sorts and types of deadeners and decided on eDead. I don't want people harping on me because I didn't purchase one of their own preferred brands, but honestly won't it be enough payback if it backfires on me then to have people bash me on my purchase? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif It's the butyl rubber stuff not the asphalt based deadener, and so it shouldn't melt or peel off.
I managed to find a forum discount for it and ordered 80sq feet for $80.00 (.8c per sq feet. $60+$20S&H) CHEAP!!!
I plan on doing the application on my 1998 4runner.
First up are the doors. I ordered new speakers, so the door deadening will be priority numero uno. Any tips as to how I should go about putting it on my doors? I plan on placing one layer on the very outside wall, perhaps 2/3 directly behind the speaker, and a layer on the internal side. The one with all the holes and such in it.
I also plan on doing the floor under the driver and passenger seats, and the back floor close to the exhaust. I'll try to cover the whole floor if I have enough.
The door pillars seem almost too much work for too little advantage so I'll leave those off. The roof has padding and a plastic headliner, so I doubt I'll put any on that either.
For the firewall, if I was to desire, should I do the inside (close to the interior) or in the engine compartment?
What are some useful tools for putting the stuff on? What are some good things to use to clean the surface before applying the deadener?
Finally, to people that have done the sound deadening in the past, are there any things that in retrospect you see would have made things easier or things that you wished you had done.
Thanks very much! Sorry for the long post!
