Looking To Black Out The Escalade...

I am looking to black out every single thing on my Escalade before the end of the month. I would atleast like to try it myself, since alot of the pieces will be easy with a couple of exceptions (The Escalade letters, logo, etc). I was curious on what kind of paint I should use and what process I should go through etc. I also am doing my brake lights and my front lights/fog lights, and for that I have heard to use VHT Niteshades. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks. Oh also, if you think in general its too difficult for someone without experience to do alone, please let me know, I would rather just go to a shop then **** it up myself if its that difficult to do.

if you've never painted headlights or tails i would let somebody with experience do it, prep is a HUGE part of the process and if the lights arent sprayed correctly, they'll look like ish. Also i would use the same paint code paint as the truck for the grill, trim, etc., Removing lettering can be done pretty easily witha heat gun and body prep solvent, make sure to buff and polish the paint after your done to protect it, on a black truck you will probably see ghosts of where the lettering was, this is helped by buffing and waxing. hope this helps...

Thanks man, so lettering is pretty much just double sided tape that I can heat gun off then paint black and re apply? Also, how can I get the same paint code as the body of the truck? Its a 2004 gloss black Escalade, Im sure its not difficult to find out. Also, I'm trying to picture in my mind what the Cadillac emblem would look like pure black.... it might look good.

you can go to any automotive paint supplier for the paint, another thing that comes in to play is the paint may not match 100% if the paint has faded from the sun, honestly your bes bet may be to have a reputable shop spray the parts for you, take everything off yourself and have it ready to paint, you'll save some cash that way and the turn around wont be too long, and the lettering might just be better off removed completely for a cleaner look.

Thanks for everyones replies. Another question, can you easily paint over chrome? I am talking about the door handles the the top luggage rack that are chrome. I would like to also have these black, but would it just be easier to order black door handles and luggage rack than to paint it? If you cant paint over chrome, Im guessing my best bet would be to remove the lettering, the emblems, the door handles, and the top thing. The front grill is stock so I dont think it comes out.

im sure the front grille comes out they have aftermarket ones for escalades take those roof racks off and leave them off it will have a nice clean shaved roofrack look thats what im doing with my explorer

A little photoshop I just did. I definitely want to black it all out now.

I've wanted a blacked out car even before I saw that show, I just believe chrome is out. Too flashy for me. And as for it being tacky, you really have to understand how that is a photoshop and it will pretty much look nothing like that. I will try to have all the black matched up wherever I take it to get done. Thanks for your opinion though. Rob and big can **** my dick.
