What exactly would they be buying time for? It's not like they took the money and ran with it. Has anyone ever thought that they may actually be telling the truth? And yea maybe they did lie about some stuff in the past, but haven't you lied before and then when you were telling the truth for once nobody believed you? Cut the guys at eD some slack.

They are buying time because the subs aren't ready. If they would have told people upfront that the subs weren't going to be ready until September customers may have gone to others companies. They stated that the subs would be 2 weeks late then it changed to 2 more weeks then it changed to a few more weeks after that, rather than saying up front that they wouldn't be ready until september. Better to overestimate the date for completed product than underestimate it.

How is it in Iowa? Is the factory in a city environment or out in the country?

I got directions to the warehouse/storefront from Jeremy there (very nice guy, might I add) and will be going to check the place out. I haven't been there before but I know where it is. On the edge of a small town, probably 5000 pop. in a new development. I'll bring the camera along so if there's anything cool to snap a shot of (if they'll let me) then I'll post em up here.

As I and others said, its a price hike, not a situation where steel simply isn't available.

said they got whatever they were waiting on in...

takes alot of the uncertainty out the preorder waiting.

was told 7-14 business days before shipment.

So it will ship in late august most likely...

'A' for effort I guess.

whats that supposed to mean? that thread was bashing eD atleast i believe the first few posts were. Unless it's a different post. I believe eD is a good company and is ran correctly. people should realize ITS A FRIGGIN PREORDER SALE!

I've seen this many times, but I finally have to respond...

Adire Audio "pioneered" the preorder for audio equipment back in 1998 with the Shiva. We've done a dozen of them since then. And there's only be one that actually didn't hit the original ship date, for Tumults, when we had demand around 10X what was expected.

Preorders aren't any different than regular orders, at least from a manufacturing/production standpoint. You line up what you want to have built/buy, get things organized, figure out when it will happen, then go. If you have a supplier that can't regularly meet your production needs, or constantly misses ship dates, either you drop that supplier, or you learn to live with it and take your lumps.

But being a preorder doesn't mean things will miss... It means you help finance the first run of drivers, and we'll give you a discount. Nothing more, nothing less. Same as standard production runs...

Now, if a company starts a preorder before they've done the homework to finalize what's getting built, who's making what, and general lead times, then IMHO they are selling something that doesn't even exist. You hope you get what you preordered, because it's still not even designed. How many want to buy a 2007 Honda Cavat? No, you don't know what it will look like, perform like, etc. you just have to pay your money down now and hope it's what you want...
