thats what i use mine for mostly ...snake control....but i keep one within hands reach when i sleep at night..just in case....because all you have to do is point in the general direction of sound and there is no missing if your happen to be woke up in the middle of the night ....and are still half asleep due to home invasion....

There are many things to consider, such as knock-down power, over-penetration, likely firing distance, your experience, etc. My recommendation is to research the rounds first, then once you find the round that fits your needs, start looking at specific makes/models of guns.

I keep 3 rounds of triple ought in my judge and last 2 rounds of 45 that way my first three rounds knock em down and last two finish them off...I figure Ill be wide awake after popping off the first three and my aim will be more on track by time im down to final 2 shots....I really should put a number 6 in the first shot though....heck I think Im gonna do that now....
