ok i think i have a general idea of how to do it. i got my dmm and use ac input or something like that. and then unhook the sub and put the things into the amp. but are these the right measurements?

voltage=34.6 (600rmsx2,sqrt)

my box is tuned to 35 hz so i dont know what test tone to use. the links dont work, so anyone know what tones to use, like -3db 50hz or no? and a link would help too =]

i turn the volume up about 60%-70% and turn the gain till it reaches 34.6 correct

and lastly does setting the bass boost have any effect on the output? should i set it to how high i like it before i set the gain or after?

turn your amps down all the way, set all settings on your hu to zero or flat (bass trebble etc) play a song you know well at about 2/3 volume, slowly turn amps up until everything sounds good=your done.

one day when your with someone who knows how to use the dmm you can re set them, but thats the way i do mine.

use the 35 hz tone at -3 db if ya want very little clipping or at 0 db if ya want no clipping at all and set your head unit with everything FLAT and play hte tone at 3/4 volume and then turn the gain up SLOWLY till you hear it clip, you will eventually hear it clip prolly when your gain is near halfway prolly, it will be noticible to the ear real easy especially at that hz, then back it off again till that sound goes away and there ya go, and remember not to go past that volume number or you will get clipping, hope this helps.

ive been seeing every to use a 50 hz tone, but i should use a 35 because thats what my box is at correct? just wanna make sure so i dont mess this up tomorrow

like i said set you bass boost before you set your gain, you won't blow your woofer that way. If you mess with the bass boost after you have your gain already set there's a possibility of the woofer blowing. common sense
