someone just bet me 1000$ that..

Same TYPE of vehicle (SUV, hatchback, sealed trunk, etc.)Sealed box (least amount of variables)

Amp of your choice (obviously different subs require different amounts of power)

Wiring of your choice (again, different amps and subs require different wiring)

No sound dampening

Your 10" sub cannot exceed $350 new

wtf... so the new woofer cant be over $350 new? The 13w7 is way over $350 new. Wow, hes getting scared. Try to etch that rule. Have it to at least match the retail value of the 13W7.

Its 4" max displacement --it says so right on the website. In fact it’s a video too. Like I said, for higher frequencies this will not matter as much, but just know, at any given frequency, the 10" will have to move twice as far to match the displacement of that 13.5” cone.
My advice is get a 10" driver with low inductance and high BL, don't worry about Xmax so much because you're going o bet him at a higher frequency if you’re going to do it at all. You don't need 4000 watts to do it either.
w7's will rarely get near their mechanical limits from what I've seen. Their Xmax is 33mm IIRC...that means about 2.5" P2P.

Displacement ability is moot in SPL with ported enclosures. Even physics tells us that. If displacement ment jack squat for getting loud in ported enclosures (espesially around tuning) 05 and earlier XXX's would walk on MT's in the lanes Bassrace or dB Drag. That is generally not the case.

We are talking about strictly getting loud in a particular (small) frequincy band (that means music too, Rap) Not over all performance.

eBay value of the 13w7. ~$500. That will get you a BTL, MT, APX, MoFo, Almost a SoloX IIRC, etc...

Though it could be done for $350 too and that would make him feel even more shitty. It will take more work and testing though. I hope you have access to a TL to know you are putting up solid numbers before you walk into this.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

how can you get it in writing when betting is illegal?
that wont hold up anywhere.
Hmm well you could try to make it into a legal contract but doing so would probably require a lawyer [to ensure it is legal] who is going to charge both of the guys more than $1000 anyway LOL. (Well not really but if I was the lawyer I would because the whole thing is pretty silly, lol.)

In most jurisdictions contracts have to first be legal (as you mentioned betting is mostly illegal) and they have to offer compensation (money) in exchange for something. Sooo, what you might be able to do is make the contract such that if Person B hits a higher SPL than Person A, Person A will agree to buy a piece of lint from Person B for $1000; and vice versa. Or something like that.
