i was just thinking somebody should make a nice big 3 channel amp. 2 channels for a front stage like 200x2 at 4ohms, and like 1000x1 at 2ohms for a sub. anybody think it's a good idea? i know some companies make 5 channels amps and you can bridge them and all but why not just make a 3 channel.

i just like the idea, i think a lot of people could use it. 1 amp for a powerful front stage and powerful substage all in one.

there are no *big* amps like that.

imo somone should make a nice 2000x1 + 150x6 amp. but it will never happen.

i really do think a lot of people would use a nice big 3 channel. as long as the price wasn't to crazy. why not, ya know? it isn't any more crazy than a 5 channel amp.

Flexibility. A 5 channel amp is likely going to sell more units than 3 channel.

If there were to be a 3 channel that puts out the same (or more) power as a bridged 5 channel, the chassis size would likely be the same sized, so nothing would be gained by doing a dedicated high-power 3 channel, imo.

Kicker makes a 3 ch. I don't remember the model number...but I don't think it was that big...A close amp is a DD S4...even though it is a 4 ch. 100 x 2 and 200 x2 the rear chs are bridgable to 800 watts....I run that single amp in my Focus ST powering the door Pioneer Revs and currently a DD 1508 sub and it sounds really nice...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

That sounds like the right number on the Kicker....The Xtant was a nice piece I had thought about it but didn't mention it because I knew they no longer made that one...I think the Kicker 3 ch is still in production....but it may not be either....

Stg do a 6 which you could do bridge all three have 2 for speakers and 1 for subs or any other config

I guess the stegs ok all ther others are good i havent used the six yet had no reason it gets a good reveiw but who knows it may well be

4 channel amps are use like 3 channel in almost every entry system, 2 ch for front stage and 2 ch bridge for subs, you just need a big amp like some kicker there.
