Some really newb questions.

Well, this is my first install, and lemme tell ya, I really know nothing about the installation end of car audio. I bought some 2 ohm Type R's and I need to mount them on my box, and I take it that I need to use speaker wire to wire the components to the box, and then screw down the components. Does anyone here have suggestions for what kind and dimension screw I should be using? I'm not really sure how important screw dimension/type is, but I just want to make sure my setup is solid and everything runs smoothly. Thank you.

Ok, thanks. And what do you think about having a built-in remote wire in the RCA? Should I just run a separate remote wire, and somehow ground the one on the RCA? And let's say I do run a separate remote wire, how/where would I ground the remote wire on the RCA?

Do not ground any remote wire. Remote wires use a 12v + source and grounding it will short and blow your head unit.

If you have one built into your RCA's, might as well use it since it'll simplify installation.

Ok. Hmmm... All of my equipment (fuses, ring connector, etc.) have thing rubber tubes inside of them being pushed down by allen screws, what are these for? And, I'm guessing I strip the wires and then screw them down with an allen wrench/using my fingers to bend close spade connectors etc.?

The rubber tubes are only for shipping. You can remove those.

Strip the wires and insert them into the connection. Screw down the allen head set screw to secure the connection.

what spade terminal are you referring to?

For what I think are spades, the only method I could think of attaching wire would be to insert it into the slot. There is a cut that leaves the slot "open" so you could compress it to hold the wire. I believe they are spade connectors.

I actually have a bunch of "other" accessories. Will I need any of these for the amp. install?

Zip ties (I think I will zip tie some of the wiring)

2-4 Ga Ring Terminals

2-4 Ga Spade Terminals

5-16~14 Ga Spade Terminals

5-16~14 Ga Female Speaker Terminals

2-16~14 Ga BUTT Connectors

5-Rubber Grommet 4Ga

3-Self Tapping Screws

1-4 Ga BUTT Connector

OD = Outer Diamete

I'm guessing most of this is for speaker install. Also, what should I split loom?

Regarding the fuse, how should I cut my wiring to drop in the fuse? What should I do if I choose not to use the built-in remote wire?

Really petty question, but my RCA cables are right-angled on on end, and straight on the other end with more of the remote sticking out. Should I insert the right-angled end to my deck, or the straight one?

Preference really. Whichever end fits better on either the amp or head unit. The rca's can be carefully pulled apart to expose more of the remote wire.

You don't need, nor want, spade terminals on your power wire. You should insert bare wire into the fuse holder and amp. Easiest way to strip the wire back is with a razor knife. Be careful to not get your fingers in the way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Some of those accessories are more for the amp you have. Some amps allow you to to use bare wire to connect things, while others are the crimp and screw down type. Ring terminals are for connecting to the battery and things like that, the spade ones are for the amps. What kind of equipment do you have?

Cut about a foot of wire to place between the + battery terminal and the fuse.

for the rcas, i guess use the straight ones on the HU and the angled ones on ther amp. which ever fits the best.

Wait - so what about the fuse? I need to go from the positive battery with some wiring, then cut it and strip it to attach to the fuse, then get the rest of the power wire I have left and connect it to the other side of the fuse and wire that through the firewall?

cut about a foot of wire, crimp it so it can go on the + battery terminal with the ring terminal. put that end on the battery, then take the bare wire end and put in the fuse holder. Expose some of the wire as well. expose a piece and put the other wire end in the other side of the fuse holder and run that back to the 12v + on the amp.
