can you go overkill on wires?

im setting a system in my old bug, i have 4 awg and 8 awg, i really only need the 8 awg but should i just go with the 4 awg becasue i have it lying around

yeah bigger wire = less resistance, which you might not even notice but as said, it wont hurt.
