x2, they sound like a couple of jealous bitches.

My parents bought me my first truck, and got me a brand new one when I graduated high school. They also payed for my college and all of my bills while I was at college...oh noez, now I'm t3h fial at life.

Yea, people dogging on him for his parents helping him out is wrong.

Shit, atleast his parents care about him and want to buy him something nice, unlike some of americas parents.

could it be that your parents just did not have enough money to buy you a car or pay for your school
No they had money to get me a starter car and i got plenty good grades/kept myself out of trouble then... They just chose not to because it teaches you life lessons early, if u get babied and have things paid for you then u can't learn to be responsible with ur money. Same thing with school, i chose to go to a tech school so i could become an auto technician. They wouldn't even co-sign on student loans, makes things alot more difficult and higher rates. By no means am i upset by how they did things, i'm happy that im 23 and financially doing pretty good. Plus i did it all myself, which is an incredible feeling in its own.

These are the kids that run up CC bills under mommy and daddys name.

I'm not jealous by any means, cuz at this point of my life im happy the route my parents made me go. All i was getting at is that i think it teaches young people responsibility when they have to watch their money to be able to afford things themselves. My parents had the means to buy me a car, just wanted to see me get a job, earn money, and save it for something i wanted. IE Car, insurance, etc. If my parents would have offered me a car i would of taken it too, but they wanted me to understand what its like to have to pay for something on my own. I just think that parents are sheltering their kids too much and not allowing them to have to work to get things on their own. Younger kids just dont appreciate the feeling of buying yourself something big like a car and actually accomplishing something

So for parents to care about their kids they have to buy them things??

if it's an 82 escort he paid $400 for your dad made a smart move. if it's a 2006 gto he financed in his name but is giving to you, the both of of are screwed for life. nothing wrong with getting a car for a present, but most parents are retarded and go way too far out on the limb for their kids a vehicle.

So my 18th biday is coming up and my pops bought me a car. the only thing is he lives an hour away and he wont tell me what it is!! lol, I hate surprises!!
the only thing I know is that it is black and it's a stick...

I cant wait, I get to go pick it up this sunday but ****.... I WANT TO KNOW NOW>!!!

congrats on being spoiled. I bought my truck when I was 14, and I still drive it. Know what my parents got me as a graduation gift, for finishing in the top 25 in my class? Luggage. ****ing, luggage. How about you go out, earn some money, and purchase a vehicle yourself, pay the taxes, and insurance on it, then tell us how you feel.

My parents don't ****. I can thank them every day for doing this to me. I have learned more about hard work and earning something by seeing $3,000 of my own hard earned dollars walk away, than my parents giving it to me and having me go spend it for them. You don't know what it is like to do something like that, or the benefits unless you have in fact done it. It's more than just not being spoiled, its about building a foundation on work ethic.

exactly wat i was thinking...i just turned 17 and my parents treat me and my twin bro like that.....they bought us both vehicles (nothing special paid $3000 for each) and as long as we keep our grades at least B averages they pay for our insurance too...but nething extra we want like CA, rims, that kinda stuff we buy.
Congrats, you have a B average and haven't been to prison yet. I've never seen the back of a cop car. I've never seen anything lower than a 91% in my high school career. I graduated with a 4.69 GPA. I got the highest cumulative score in my school on my ACT with a 34. I got a full ride to college on academics. I was a 3 sport letterman every year since my sophomore year, which means my school days started at 6:00 AM and ended at 6:00 PM. On top of all that, I joined the military just so I could serve my country...but you think that you DESERVE to have all that shit payed for because you're a good kid? Because, you get decent grades? Give me a break. You think you know good work ethic because you have to work hard for the "accessories" for your ride. How about you walk to work for an entire summer, just so you COULD have a ride. Then see how you treat the **** thing. Or better yet, how about when you're 13 you bust your ***, just enough to save up for your own lawn mower, so that when you are 14 you can mow lawns and make better money.

It really scares me what we have going into the work force today. A bunch of snot nosed brats that won't know anything about the real world. I'm not saying they will all be that way, some of them understand what it will take, but for the others, a rude wake up call is waiting.

I want to see what happens if OP becomes homeless. Could he survive on the street? Eat out of garbage cans? Offer to sweep parking lots and shit for enough money to buy some food to survive the next day?

These types of lessons need to be learned. Kids need to know what it's like to miss a meal.

I hope OP never really has to suffer...he probably won't. But I think too many things, like the next meal, are taken for granted.

You are making me all teary eyed......(sniff)..(sniff)....you try to talk like you have had it SOOO bad.In your profile it says that you are 18 without a doubt living at home.Wait until you have a wife and kids and a morgage, car payments, and everything else that goes along with life.
