So I got my XXX now

Currently, I have a SX 15 in 4.06ft^3 tuned to 34hz. I'm running it on a bx1500d. I do not have an amp for the XXX yet. For now, would I be better off leaving teh SX in, or will the XXX still sound better and play as loud as the SX in the same setup? (~1300w RMS)

I will test it myself on Saturday, but I'd like some opinions for now.

will sound better...not sure of loudness tho...it should be louder off a better amp but might not be as loud as the sx off that amp

I would switch it out. Your going to be doing it anyways and I would be anxious to hear the darn thing. Also I ran mine off a 1500d and it was nice

why isnt it tuned lower mines tuned to 35hz, cuz thats of lack of room for the port

It all depends on what you want sound wise.

I like 28hz tuning for drivers. More SQ based.

32-34 is a good SQL

34+ is more SPL

Depending on drivers you can use tuning to get a flat responce instead of a spike that SPL boxes tend to have.

A xxx off 1k-1.5kw tuned low would shake the piss out of your car.

seriously, all these people who keep advocating sub-30 or 28hz tunings are insane. its so impractical, requires a massive box, and the lower you tune the more the enclosure acts like a sealed box.

It may get the responce range of a sealed box, but you still have the back wave that would make it louder.

people on this forum have this notion that tuning lower always = good. no matter what. and it gets progressively lower and lower. i remember like 2 years ago people here were saying things like "and tune it nice and low, like 35 hz", and then a year later it was like 32hz, and now people are saying even
