people on this forum have this notion that tuning lower always = good. no matter what. and it gets progressively lower and lower. i remember like 2 years ago people here were saying things like "and tune it nice and low, like 35 hz", and then a year later it was like 32hz, and now people are saying even

Let me explain why I told you what I perfer.

Tuning low will yeild a flater transient responce then tuning up higher. I perfer 28-32 hell...depending on driver I would tune to 19hz (RL-i). The xxx is an sql sub. Tune however the funk you want. after all this is the internet and you know all.

I would run the xxx in 4 cubes tuned to 28hz off of 1k-1.5kw. Dont dog me when you hear MY advise. I wont post in this thread anymore.

12" XXX in 2.0 tuned to 29hz much better responce than my 2.0 tuned to 35hz.

Congrats on the new sub. Well i just changed my amp from an MTX 1000d(1300-1400W)to an ORION 2500d and difference is incredible.I have sealed box though. I was investigating getting a ported box but now i don't know anymore! With the proper power my XXX15 in the sealed box is frinkin loud!

Yeah i know i keep hearing that! I kinda like the small box in the trunk(space wise) Don't know if the wife would like no trunk space with the bigger box. I might eventualy go for it. I got to say tho, in the setup i have, it literally shakes the crap out of my car.

tuning depends on what you like i have my xxx tuned to 35hz and i love it, altho ive never heard it lower, but i also think i liked my rlp tuned to 35hz better than 32hz

Switch it out man, i have my XXX15 box laying around so if you want it we can arrange something since we live right there from each other bro. Its 4.5cuft @ 35. It sounded AWSOME and got LOUD for me with my Orion 2500d. I say switch it out and then get a louder amp sometime.
