I have Kicker CVR15" right now in a sealed box but now my mind is confused cause i need a sub which has a faster response rate as i listen techno, trance, club... Because my sub is 15" its response rate is not enough. its really powerful and tough but sometimes it may sound like it is in a vented box not sealed. So now i want to buy a sub which has faster response rate, which is tough, powerful, plays quality and loud as well, it should really fit to songs, sounds i listen. Which are mainly techno, trance, club and popular music (benassi, tiesto, armin van buuren...) I narrowed my choices and i've a list of subs that i could buy these are;

1) Kicker S10L7 (10" sub 600W)

2) Kicker S12L5 (12" sub 600W)

3) Kicker S12L7 (12" sub 750W)

My amp is XETEC P5 which has a sub output that is nearly 560W RMS. Could my amp play S12L7 (750W) without any malfunction??? Apart of this which size should i buy 10"(25cm) or 12"(30cm)??? Lastly does S12L5 differ from CVR15"??? What are the advantages or disadvantaged of S12L5 to CVR15"??? And advantages of square woofers???

2 mag 12's will be perfect

thanks for your opinion but i'm planning to buy only these kicker subs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

The problem is I don't think the L5 nor the L7 are real snappy or clean. You won't get the sound you want out of them no matter the size.

My friend has two CVR 15's with about 1200wRMS on them. they are in a sealed box about 2.75 ft each and i know what you mean by it sounding almost as if they are ported. try getting better RCA cables that stiffens up the bass more than you would think. Get a nice set if you dont have some already. if you only have 560watts and you want punchy bass i think dividing that 560 to multiple subs would only get you right back to sloppy but maybe louder bass. Going with one sub is a good choice and the square kickers arent as bad for sound quality as as some ppl say type-r 12's run a little over 100 bux on ebay i dont know what you want to spend but they are a very good Sound quality sub read these forums. and they will take the 560 watts easily im running mine on 800watts right now with a kenwood x811d. the L7's wont be much better than your CVR for SQ.

Several posts in this thread are very interesting because kicker or someone sponsored by kicker built a vehicle using solo x woofers (supposedly straight SPL drivers) and won a serious award in SQ. While I certainly respect the opinion of others on this forum, generalizing that kicker woofers are sloppy is a false statement. Maybe polecat can chime in with some words of wisdom?

What I meant was that the Kicker L series aren't known for SQ. I would imagine if the kind of sound he described is what he wants he'd be looking for something more SQ oriented. That doesn't mean those Kicker's won't sound "good". They just might not be the tightest or the quickest.
