I honestly don't like a flat response...sounds lifeless to me.

Cutting frequencies is always better than boosting them.

It totally depends on the environment and equipment used...I "cheat" and use a 15-band graphic L/R EQ in my apartment because I can't really do room treatments...

This weekend one of my drunk retarded friends got button happy when driving my truck to the liquor store and reset my unit.

I usually have to cut several freq because of my vehicle. Other then that, I tune flat then start to adjust to how I like it to sound.

I boost 80Hz a few notches as it gives drums more punch, and also have 12.5kHz boosted +4 to bring the XT's alive. That sounds best to my ears.

I tried it all set flat when I first installed the 880prs and didn't care for it at all, very dull sounding.

I got my sub enclosure tunned really low "30hz"

the freq response curve is very flat...

I have an abundance of amplifier power and a good EQ

so I can make it hammer very well but my next enclosure

will be tunned up around 32hz...give it a little more life

I totally agree. a car that scores really well on a RTA to me sounds like bootay . VERY plain. I like to emphasize the lows and the higher notes while the middle taken down
