Box leak?

Well, I got the replacement nine.1 yesterday and installed it. This on is putting out the right voltage so I know it works but still no output. I started feeling around the outside of the beauty baffle I made and I think I can feel some air leaks that aren't coming from the port. I'm not really familiar with how a leaky box sounds so here is the symptom. At nearly full tilt the subs barely move. I have to put the bass on the h/u all the way up with gain half way to get any real bass out of it and it still in no way compares to the bass before I made the beauty panel. It also sounds very midbassy. I played around with the filter and x over but no good results. Songs that should play in the low 30s sound like mid 50s or 60s. Test tones at less than 30 Hz cause the cone to travel way farther than it was previously (w/o the beauty) but almost no output. It's almost like the sub is playing in free air. Because I eyeballed my mdf ring placement when I glassed the original front baffle my new beauty baffle didn't quite sit flush against it. I used bondo and thought I got it all filled in. Then I glassed the gap just inside the mounting hole where the new baffle was about 1/4 to 1/2 inch from the old mdf rings. I thought this would do the job and thought I did a pretty good job but maybe not. Any Ideas?

Sounds just like subs wired out of phase from each other.

I'll check but I'm pretty positive they are correct. This weekend I'm gonna pull the subs and check for airleaks. I'll double check the wiring as well.

Don't double check the wiring, just disconnect one sub and see if it helps. Play it at low volumes when you do this if they're sharing enclosure airspace.

I couldnt' disconnect one sub. They are wired together at 2 ohm on the strapped amps. I took it all out on friday cuz my replacement nine.1 showed up. I disconnected everything in a hurry and didn't even think to look and see if it was wired wrong. I know it was 2 ohm but one could have been reversed polarity. There were definitly box leaks. Fixed that with about a quarter gallon of bondo to fill in the gaps. Subs are beatin now.
