Got Bass?
I'm sorry im still a newb and couldn't find answers to my couple of questions, please try not to flame me too much //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

I'm going to build a 4.0 cubic foot box at 32hz for my two type-r's and I'm going to have a hifonics 1606D amp powering them. Just for reference...

1) Do i need to brace the box? If so, how and where?

2) Ok this is going to sound stupid, but how far away from the port do i put the subs and how far apart should i cut the holes for the subs? And also...heh, is it just a 12" diameter circle i cut out?

I'm sorry I'm a newb, but ive been searching multiple forums and couldn't find stuff on this, well i found out about the bracing but dont understand it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

1. there's many ways to brace a box. if you're doing a slot port it will help bracing, and little or no addition bracing may be needed. wedges glued into the corners are popular, as well as threaded rods

2. it shouldn't matter too much where you put the port in relation to the subs, you just don't want the back of the sub to point directly into the port.

you will NOT need to cut out a 12" circle for a 12" sub. probably somewhere from 10.5" - 11.5" but it depends on the model.

how do i know exactly how much i should cut the hole at for a 12" type r? measure the sub or something or cut at 11 and hope it works? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

And i guess i won't brace since it seems like i won't really need it and it would just make the builder harder for a newb.

did the subs some with the box or are they new cause there should be a circle that the subs sat in like it would for the box and just trace the inside of it but if the complete sub goes through it do not use it but other wise get a compass and set it to 5.5 inches and make a mark in the center of the box and then in the center of the two side and then in the middle put the needle for the compass and trace a circle then use a drill and drill a hole for a blade or router to fit in then cut that ***** out lol

i haven't gotten the subs in yet, they are being shipped atm. But thanks for the replies guys, big help. I'm hoping the subs with come with the cutout or whatever, if not ill be using my handy compass at 5.5inch //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif
