shape of new box for subs

ive always heard that its best to focus on depth in a box rather than over demensions. well if true would it make much of a difference is i had a box in my truck that the deepest i could go was 13" on the bottom and 10" on top being it is 15" high and 36 wide. if i made a new box with the same bottom depths but make the top depth 6" but also made it taller, about 22" high and then made it about 58" wide. what are anyones thoughts about this.
