Slim Amps = *** /// Helix

exactly, the alpine is what is called a 'digital' amplifier whereas the JL amp will be a regularly driven amplifier which there alone means that the amps have a substantial amount of components that are different.
I guess I'm not exactly sure what you are saying here as the term "digital" really has no defined connotation in audio amplifiers, and I'm not sure what you consider "regular".

But the JL is also a switching amplifier (class D), same as the Alpine.

okay funny cause even the Alpine Engineers call them "digital" amps. they dont know jack though, its all in the forums bro, its all here. people at home jerking off to jailbate threads know more about car audio than the engineers working on the products ROLF.

You can call it "Little Bunny Foo Foo" it's not digital. It's a Full range Class D amp. The JLs and Memphis are as well. ICE is the power supply design of the Alpine amp, nothing to do with the driver stage, just like R.I.P.S is the power supply design of the JL Slash series for both the Class A/B and D. Also entirely possible that Alpine licensed the same technology for their amps and call it ICE. JL said they licensed it, they never claimed to be the only licensee. I'm still at a loss as to why it is so hard to believe that JL might be using the same technology as someone else especially when they even come out and say that they didn't develop it themselves. I like JL but, comeon...wonder who actually funded the research project...
Whatever. Pointless to argue since no one really knows anything about the final JL product because it still isn't on the market. They're being particularly slow about getting the HD amps and the TW subs on the market. The subs aren't expected to be for sale until the summer and the amps still haven't even made JL's website. Both were displayed at CES last January.
pointless to argue about something we dont know about.

term digital is a marketing name.....unless you are trying to tell me they contain a DtoA converter of some sort....which i doubt....

No, the Alpine marketing department calls them "digital." If you're so sure that they're digital, care to explain how you can make 1s and 0s louder?

You are an idiot.

i just wanted to point out the transistor on the amps on the first page are used in a few other high end amps. from what i've been told they are capable of producing a fair amount of clean power. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif i use an amp that uses them as well.

and i also would like to point out the what they call a "digital" amplifier lol is merely marketing for class d which was just the next letter in the alphabet and really has nothing to do with the technology inside the amp. unless you can sho proof that's it's truly a "digital" amp we'll still with class d for now.
