Fi q rated at 1000 rms in a very small sealed box between .6 and .9. Amp is makin 1200 watts give or take. If my sub bottoms out with 1200 watts do you think it is because my amp is clipping and sending more power or do you guys think an fi q would bottom out on 1200 watts in a small sealed box???

this only happened once or twice on songs with heavy low bass but and since then my gain has been turned down. Just tryin to figure out how many non clipped watts an fi q can mechanically handle

usaully in a small sealed box you will have alot of impedance rise so you probably aernt getting the wattage you think

That's frequency dependent and irrelevant.

Given enough power and a low enough frequency, a sub can easily bottom out, even in a small sealed enclosure.

Sometimes heavy clipping can sound very similiar to a sub bottoming out. Was the sub warm after this? Do you know exactly how bigg your enclosure is, as 0.6 and 0.9 is kinda a big difference.
