... Use discretion/decency when writing people tickets/taking them to jail in certain instances or is breaking the law just breaking the law and that's it?

Like.. giving you a ticket when you're doing 5 over when everyone else is doing the same?

Or maybe you were rushing somewhere or something.

Idk, just things like that. I think they should use discretion always. Problem is getting them to actually use it properly...

The whole point of law and of having police is to help people and protect people, the written law has to be over-encompassing in order to give them this effect, and it should be their job to tone it down where they see fit, and adjust its interpretation to fit circumstances in order to maintain that its actual use is strictly the 'point' mentioned above
