Should I use the same gauge of speaker wire inside and outside of sub enclosures.

I'm ordering some Karma SS (Twisted) Kable wire for the wiring of my subs within the enclosure to the inside of the terminal cups.

Question: Should I used the same gauge of wire (in this case 12) for the outside of the terminal cup leading to the amp? I was considering

using more of the same speaker wire for that. I don't see many setups with twisted wire for the outside of amps leading from the outside of

cup terminals. Probably a stupid question, but would it make a difference as opposed to using straight wire of the same gauge? Thanks.

Nope, using a larger gauge my add a small amount of current flow but, would soon be dissipated by the smaller wire on the inside. It is fine using twisted wire on the outside.

OFC wire is all the same other than strand count. There will be no benefit going to the Kord speaker wire from the twisted. If you have enough of the twisted to run to your amp just do it if not, you can buy a size up in wire which may give slightly better results.

IMO I would not use a terminal cup, I've seen many burn up.. Especially the cheap ones. Just drill a hole and caulk it or make it a tight fit for the wire and pull it through. Or you can run it through the port if you are running a ported setup.

Depending on how much power he is pushing a terminal cup is fine. I always prefer direct connection whether I have a prefab with a terminal cup or a custom made box. Can't beat the drill and caulk method.

Even then *shrug* I wouldn't use em lol.

F*ck that... Wire caulked to the box, or bolts. atw ftw.... lol
Bolts are all good if you need to be able to remove them, but it's worth finding out if the bolts you are using are of good conductive material. If I ever needed to be able to remove the wires from the outside of the box I'd go with bolts for sure.
