so should i finally break down and do it? that is upgrade my power wire to 0/1? right now i have 4 gauge and it works. but i am running a jl 500/1 and a jl 300/4 and maybe once a week i will blow the fuse at the distro block on the 500/1 side. only when i am at low idle like parked or stoped. so i was thinking because i am gonna pull the system out and get some ed 9kv.2's that as long as i have access to just rewire it. or is there something else i can do to keep it from blowing the fuses. i am just happy that bestbuy is selling the RF fuses in 4 packs for like $5 now. i have blown like 3 fuses now in the month.

1/0 with about a 150a ANL fuse holder.
so who all agrees on doing this?? i dont know much about fuse sizes as i am always installing either 8 gauge or 4 gauge kits because it is always 1 amp i am installing. i am gonna get the knukonceptz kit.

where do you get that? I am about to buy a new 4ga. wiring kit and everyone gets that stuff. Where do you get it from?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fro.gif.c695f1f814b01c4ad99fe7f8cccadd29.gif

google knuconceptz and then click the install kit link.

I'd use a bigger fuse (250) on 1/0 Gauge.

Also, maybe to stop the fuse blowing, you could just put a higher rated fuse in there.

What gauge wires do you have running in and out of that connection on the distro?

What rating are the fuses?

dude you dont have to upgrade to 1/0 wire, you obviously have a problem somewhere else. If you keep blowing fuses, you dont want to just keep replacing them. You need to find the problem. I have a 450/4 and a 500/1 and I have never blown a fuse and i am running 4 gauge pwr. and ground. You need to make sure you have the same size pwr, and grnd. wires coming in and out of your distro's, and amps.

right now i am running 4 gague into and 8 gauge out of the disrto block, with 40amp fuses. i know the ground is good because it is the same ground from my past 3 installs. should i get some 60amp and put it in there and try that?

You should have 4 guage going to that 500/1 if you don't already. I have a RF 5002 and have 4 guage with a 100amp fuse, and I have only blew one 80amp fuse with it, and that's when I was trying to get about 1000WRMS from the amp. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif That 80amp fuse didn't like it at all. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blackeye.gif.66a1670f5aaf7f406e783a63e3387dc5.gif

The 500/1 is speced for a 50A fuse. The reason that you are blowing fuses at idle is that you are getting a voltage drop from your factory alt and battery at idle RPM and the amp by nature of its design draws more current so it can continue to make full power with the lower voltage. That extra current combined with a fuse that's too small to begin with is your problem.

I'd use a bigger fuse (250) on 1/0 Gauge.
If the amps are not goint to draw more than 150A, and these amps won't, a 150A fuse is fine. There is only a maximium fuse size for a certain size wire. No reason that you can't run smaller. Not losing anything running a fuse smaller than max size for the wire.
