Should I Upgrade? JBL BP1200.1

I have an RE SXX 12D4 at 2ohms on my JBL BP1200.1. As some of you may know, this amp is solid for it's age and was a powerhouse in it's day. It's currently dimming the crap out of my headlights and I am probably going to add a second battery first.

The sub is in a custom ported box at 32hz and I wanna say it was 3 cubes? Will I notice much of a difference changing amps? For some information I also have a Sony XAV 72BT 7" in dash. I picked up the amp for cheap and it hits but was wondering if I would see a difference moving to a JL 1000/1 or something like it. Thanks.
