Should i Upgrade from cda 9887 to a pioneer deh 80?

So should i upgrade my alpine cda 9887 to a pioneer deh 80prs??? i love the sound of the alpine, but the ipod interface really makes me want to punch someone in the face. so is it worth upgrading to the pioneer deh 80??

i just upgraded from my 9887 to an 80prs this week and to be honest i couldnt be happier.....gonna take alot of getting use to for the menus but its already amazing...the streaming blue tooth alone is worth it

Whats wrong with the 9887 iPod interface? Ive never had an issue with it. That being said I can also stream BT to my 9887. However Im still looking to switch things up. I get bored quickly.

you can stream yes but u need ur external adapter.....

the 80 prs comes with 2 auxillarys.... 2 usb's.... and bluetooth streaming.....u kno the 9887 has no connections like that with out having to buy an addon

Id rather have the add ons. You know they didnt jam junk into the chassis just to fit it in there.

its complete junk, i came from a pioneer, so i was used to alphabetical search, the menus lasting longer, how when you searched for something and it went back to the home screen it would go to where you were, all these little things add up to make me mad. The alpine doesnt stay in the menus long enough for me to look up at cars in front of me then back down, then i have to restart me search from the beginning. when you have 40gbs worth of music this gets annoying scrolling through the menus.

not true........come on tyler.......the add ons do not mean the deck was better designed by engineers....

Same reasons I switched over to my pioneer..I have no regrets thus far

it has been 5 years since the 9887 was engineered...look at the way phones and hand helds have gone in that time...engineers can shrink down alot more stuff and make it alot more efficient in just 18 months.....

I didnt say it was better designed. Im saying alot of HU's on the market jam all the features they can into one chassis and use junk parts. They do it for marketing. Id personally rather have a HU where I choose what options I have rather than having 2 unused USB ports, 2 unused aux ports, etc.

hmm ok thats true, i just looked through the manual, i was wrong on that.

how much difference does it make not having the parametric eq, and having the graphic eq instead?

Parametric typically has more options and allows you to change the Q, boost/cut frequencies, etc. The graphic EQ will have just your standard frequency selectors.

I cant speak for the 80 because I havent used it yet, but I havent heard complaints so far. But the people who have it are also excited about bluetooth streaming and extra ports and crap. I like my usb and I miss it from time to time, but I also am pretty happy with my 9887, it would have to be built a lot better to convince me to switch. I can still hear a bit of noise in most decks at high volume esp when ticking the volume knob up and down or something, but my 860mp did the same. I cant see any sort of sound quality coming from BT. The decks I bought for BT both pioneer and kenwood sounded like dog *****. It just became another feature like aux that i never ever used. I will say that the interface on the alpine for ipod is no good compared to pioneer and you cant even hardly argue that one, but i will say my 860 didnt sound as warm as the 9887 or 9855 or 9853 or 9886. My house mate has the 800 and it sounds alright, but there is also a lot of nice equipment behind it. The specs look nice and if youre really upset about the iPod then I say grow up and get some flash drives and snag the 80. if you dont like it return it.

i only use usb, so bluetooth would not be a reason for getting the pioneer at all. i like the idea of getting it and returning it, but that would involve selling my 9887 to get the money to buy it, unfortunately :/
