I still have my money in the bank don't I? I'm just going to put it in another bank anyway.paranoid people like the OP is a factor to why banks are failing
It's all so simple!I still have my money in the bank don't I? I'm just going to put it in another bank anyway.
The reason why banks are failing is because people take out loans for their houses and the house worth dropped so they can't take money out on their house anymore, and can't quality for any more loans (because they ain't paying the one for the 500,000 dollar loan for the 300,000 dollar house)...
so they default.
The irony of that entire posts is worthy of a quote.Isn't America just the smarterest people you ever did meat?

Moody's investors service puts WaMu debt into Junk Territory
Between July 11th and July 14th Wamu stock dropped from 4.95 to 3.23. It has since risen back up to the same level however.

"Wamu in flux after loss"
moody's investors say "although WaMu's financial flexibility has declined, its liquidity is not sufficient."
BTW- WaMu is supposedly doing the same as Wachovia: "WaMu's report follows a similar move by Wachovia (nyse: WB - news - people ). After posting a $9 billion loss, the firm's chief executive, Robert Steel, said the company is adequately capitalized."
so whoever said Wachovia is going down....well there you go.
