Very few stock 4t65hd trannys go it's when the modding comes in. There are tons of shops that deal specifically with this ***** and rebuild it to be able to handle 500 whp. It is a good ***** but a weak link when modding
Wha?? If it's a very good *****, why do shops need to modify them to handle the power? The same with the Ford E4OD - s
ucks stock, but modified, it rocks. Same deal here, man. And that "blue book" price is the amount one can expect a dealer to sell it for, and considers the fact that the dealer went through and repaired required parts and has inventory and other such bills, not to mention having to deal with a warranty.
As for the work you did to the suspension and new tires, that factors little in the value. All cars have four tires, and all cars have a working suspension. If you went through and replaced it because it was bad, then all you did was return the value of the car, NOT add thereto. If you used hot-shot aftermarket parts (tubular cross members and a-arms, coil-over shocks/struts), then you are looking for a very specific buyer, and good luck finding him/her.
If you can sell the car for $6K to the little old couple that came to look at it, then awesome, DO IT, end of discussion.
I bought my Bronco for $15K back in 2000, it was a steal at the time. I've lifted it, off road tires, cowl induction hood, aftermarket beefy *****, 4.56 gears in both pumpkins, and EVERYONE turns as I drive down the road. I've had NUMEROUS people tell that they want it. Could i sell it for $15K today? No way in hell. $10K? Not a chance. $5K, most likely, it's a head turner. Don't count on Blue Book, as they say, "It's only worth what someone will pay for it." Sadly.
