I know brands aren't everything....but they are associated with quality ....thing is i want to amp my mids and highs in the process of doing my build....now i can go ahead and buy a nice 4-channel ...but thing is i got this old sony amp laying around....thinking about saying fuk it and just put it to use....it's the old XM-504Z series....should i just do it temporarily for shits and gigs or should i just save myself the trouble down the line and go ahead and get a nice one? Let me know if anybody got some good deals just in case....because i don't think this Sony will even think about doing 500 watts...it weighs like 2 ounces:crap:

Why not just hook it up temporarily for now. If your happy with it just keep it, if not when it comes times to finish your build by a nice 4 channel and be done with it.

if u think there will b a issue with the amp u have now then the answer is go ahead and get a new one. if the amp works why fall in to the hole i gota have a big name brand amp.

Sure, why not install it and run 4 ga to it, then if you feel like upgrading later on, it will be as simple as just plugging it in and that's it?

I'd try hooking it up just because I could. If it sounds like azz go ahead and get the new 4 channel, but if it sounds ok you'll have "extra" money to spend on other stuff.

Just run all the wires like I said. Then when the new amp gets here, just plug it in and be done with it.

Dude who cares what the name is on the amp. As long as it powers your speakers then do it.
