Should I rewire my car

I've got that all figured out, mines to be set at 40, 1600x1 sq rt=40 volts. I'm not really familiar with a dmm. i understand how to set the gains and check resistance and whatnot, but on the dmm, what does it need to be set to for me to properly get a 40 voltage reading for my gains

Your lowest AC setting that's above your target, so, it's sound like AC200v is your lowest? Also, they are known for a bit of leeway on ohm ratings, especially cheaper ones. Sometimes speakers aren't RIGHT at 4 ohms. you're in the ballpark though so you're fine.
so to tune the amp i keep the dmm switched on to 200 ohms? yes that is the lowest for the ohms setting. The speakers i figured were a little off, so that wasn't a concern.

Unrelated note, i ordered all my knu items, and then realized ha stupid me i didn't order any speaker wire to go from 4 channel to the deck.

btw thats the one i have, it may be crap, i just borrowed it from my stepdad, so if its garbage i may end up just buying one anyway. but its got many different settings and not being familiar with a dmm at all, other than testing speakers, it has me a little confused is to keep the setting at 200 ohms to set the amp gains as well.
