should i pour distilled water on my amp to save it?

yeah good idea lol i have it out of the car on my couch drying out but some guy told me to put it in distilled water just wondering if he's full of it i wouldn't do this normally

How and where was the amp mounted? Are sure the amp even got wet? Couldn't this have gone in one of the other 2 threads you already made? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i say take off the case and wipe off the water with soft towel gently, very gently. get as much off as you can and let the rest dry off.
You wont be able to get all the "toxins that way. Theres way too many things too work around.

Maybe let it dry, then test it. If it doesnt work then rinse it?

Yea...make sure its not acid rain too. In all seriousness, rain will kill that amp. Whoever told you that needs to be shot. Why do you think all electronics say to keep away from moisture/water?! If I were you, dry up what you can on the amp from the water, and also open up the amp and let it dry was well. Then after a few days or so, hook it up and see what happens.

Don't blame me, blame the US Navy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I guess their official electronics salvage procedure isn't good enough for some people...oh well. Can't please 'em all. Soaking electronics right after immersion in salt water or a corrosive environment with distilled water is industry standard. Simply drying it just won't do, unless you get very lucky.

i revoke my previous statement... jack frost is the one who told you to use distilled water.. i would trust him because he seems to be a smart fellow.. and i just read his post where he told you and he actually had reasons to back it up... i've never heard of doing this.. and i figured some idiot told you to do it.. so i was being a smartass.... you said it's under warranty so what the hell what could it hurt..?? lol...

do not do any of what was said above

rain is not the cause of the problem. its the MINERALS in the water that conduct electricity and can fry electronics. distilled water is simply purified water with ZERO minerals.

you first MUST let the amplifier dry out, then rinse it with distilled water (you dont need to take the entire amplifier apart, just take the bottom off)

and then let it dry overnight again.

dont start wiping it with cloths and crap... at most, wipe it with a soft brush (like a paintbrush) that is BRAND new while you are cleaning it with the distilled water.

sigh.

You know the old saying....."Doesn't have to be perfect, just good enough for government work"
