should i join the air force?

because I always wanted to visit Japan.....
my recruiter also told me about being stationed there, it was one of his favorite places.
Ah. I liked Japan, but I don't think I would want to live there. Just did not seem like home to me, if you get what I'm saying.

Are you actually IN the AF? From what I read, Ithought you were "considering" it.

Not reading this.....why would you come on the internet to ask if you should join the air force? I'd think by now you could make up your own mind and not have strangers decide your future //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif.

Joining the Air Force would be like going to Taco Bueno University..

Pointless and a waste of time..

most of us army types are jealous of their 4-month rotations.
x4!

if you do go military, airforce>navy>marines>army in terms of how long you get to play in the combat zone. i have no real direction in my life and being in the army gives me something else to do besides surf on the internet and watch TV
bolded

navy or air force would be your best bet. i almost got into the marines but failed the hearing test at meps (i got hyped up by the recruiter..go figure). you gotta weigh both sides of it tho. 4 years of your life to the government. it will be very good experience and probly some good life lessons in the long run. i have a buddy in the navy right now and he loves it at times. other times he hates it. just the way it goes. there's a lot to consider tho for 4 years to the armed services esp at this time of war.
Navy or air force x2!

Id live in japan in a heartbeat.....just not if I was in the military. The military has a way of pissing on your parade no matter how fun it is.

Join the coast guard:)

Dont trust recruiters. Japan is the shit tho.

You got a lot of other good pointers in this thread, and I have this to add. You are looking into techinical jobs computer and such. going right along with being techinical look for jobs that you need a TS or higher security clearance. Preferably TS/SCI. Thats what I have and right now I am about to go to 4 interviews within the next two weeks. People are known to be hired making $45g-$80g starting out depending on how your expirience in the military relates to the job you will be taking from them. The jobs I am looking at right now are $45g, $55g, $60g and $85g(I know im not getting this one, but I am hoping they will offer me something else). Thats with little college (they arent even looking at it), HS diploma and 5 years intelligence expirience with my security clearance. Security clearance is key.

X2 on what Devillain said. I'm a Warrant Officer in the Army but if I had it to do all over again I'd do the Air Force in a heartbeat. I had a chance to but I was young and stupid and thought the Air Force was for *******. Man if I could go back in time and slap myself I would. My uncle retired from the Air Force and I have visited him a couple of times and let me tell you those guys live a lot better than anyone else in the military. I will tell you if you need direction the military is a good place to get started. So go in for 3-4 yrs. and if you don't like it you get out when your time is up, too easy. And then you got veteran status which will give you an edge on some jobs. And to reinforce what everyone else has said I would get a technical job that you can use when you get out.
