Should I Imprint?

I almost bought a 9886 earlier in the year but didnt do what I wanted, Im not trying to drop 400 on a deck when i can get the same features elsewhere for less. My game plan was the 9886 with an imprint that would bring it to where I wanted and keep all the features. I have an x200 that will take the imprint too but i hate the screen and sorta like my cds. My favorite decks to date are the 9855 and the 860mp. i dont care about cool color screens or any of that. i just want time alignment, and a decent eq.

You can look at Eclipse, almost anything in the CD5xxx series, CD7xxx series, or even the 8441 and up. All have iPod capability, XM, and have great EQ's. Also there are a few Pioneer P880PRS/800PRS on the forums that are around the same quality.

I saw where you could rent it but im not sure if I want to do that because if i lose power to the deck then i lose the settings i paid 50 for. also wtf do i do with 8v preouts, i have never understood that. i had 6.5v on my 860 and if i didnt tweak it just right i would still clip with the gains off.

Higher voltage preouts mean you basically don't have to turn the gain up as high on your amp, since the voltage already starts out that high from your headunit.

The 9887 has been tested and wont send out a clipped signal from the RCA's even at full volume.

Making sound adjustments with the IMPRINT is a one-time process, so there's no need for you to keep the KTX-100EQ kit after you've used it. Normally, this kit is sold only to dealers, but Crutchfield wants to make this special offer to all you car audio "do-it-yourselfers" out there:
Use the sound tuning kit and then return in to us within 30 days. We'll refund the purchase price, minus a $50 re-stocking fee — that's less than you'd pay a dealer to adjust the sound for you. On the other hand, if you decide not to use the kit, return it to us with the software unopened and we'll refund the full purchase price.

What if you get a new car?

Just give us a call if you move your Alpine stereo to a new car. You've already paid to use the KTX-100EQ kit once, so we'll send it to you again free of charge so you can make adjustments for your new vehicle. As before, just return it within 30 days.
They will send it to free so your set.

whats the difference between the 117 and the 9887
9887 can change colors. I havent really looked at the CDA117 specs though.

What? I didn't know that. You have a link to where they test that?
Ive searched all over DIYMA and cant find it. I just read the damned thing a few weeks ago. At 35/35 on the volume and the bass attenuation at 15/15 it wont send a clipped signal. However some arent gaining volume from 27-28 to 35/35 so they are tuning for volume 27/35 and the bass setting at 15/15. It was reported that a few people had the setting on sub type 1 instead of sub type 2.

Color changing is very important to a person with sensitive eyes. Their stock blue color is soooooo bright at night.

I had mine set on volume 25 with sub level on 15. Always wanted to go a little higher than that.
