i hope u mean 5.5 in long
i'm not sure you need 55 inches, but 5.5 is laughable. mine is 2.2 with 2 4 inch round ports around 21 inches long. it's a little bit of a challenge to design the box and keep the ports inside, but doable.i hope u mean 5.5 in long
It's a total pain in the *** is what it is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gifi'm not sure you need 55 inches, but 5.5 is laughable. mine is 2.2 with 2 4 inch round ports around 21 inches long. it's a little bit of a challenge to design the box and keep the ports inside, but doable.
do u think i would hear port noise if i fired it upwards? (the port that is)Be sure to secure it with a seatbelt //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
I would not "suffocate" the port.

i listen to rapif you're worried about port noise then you can round the edges of the timber used for the port both inside the enclosure and outside sealed is always better for frequency response provided it is built right ie its not to boomy
ported will more times than not give you at least a 3db gain but enclosure size is quite critical and port length as well. it depends what kind of music you listen to.
although a 3db gain may not seem to much 6db's is considered to be twice as loud to the human ear
