should I go .5 ohm or not?

I currently have two Xfl12s dual 4s wired at 1ohm on a Vfl175.1 I want to upgrade subs but debating getting dual 2s and going down to half ohm. What are your thoughts ? I have two Xs batteries total of 170ah and 150a alt big 3 done as well and I drop to no less than 13.2-13.5 wide open at idle. I like tgat I stay above 13v now but would i drop below 12v at half ohm ? Is it worth it for a daily setup

DO you need the power? Can you afford to replace an amp that blows? Better safe than sorry in my opinion.
as long as he has the electrical to back it, this amp, matter fact any of the AB VFL amps will run .5ohms daily without sweat. Had a teammate running a pair of 500.1s strapped at .5ohms(each amp seeing .25ohms) daily for almost 2 years and they worked flawlessly. He sold them a few months ago to a teammate and they are still going strong now lol

will be fine as long as you have the power to to back it. Your electrical does seem ok for it with those batts and decent size stock alt. Id try it and test it out while playing full tilt. but should be fine

Thanks for the info guys Im just trying to get louder and im at the point where my last upgrade with this car is going to be the subs just wondering if going half ohm is worth it with my setup

I wouldnt do it daily. Ive done it no problem. Would i do it again? NO. not worth the risk and as others say you lose efficiency. I doubt you notice the extra 200-300 watts you ill gain from wiring .5. Its harder on the amp, uses more electrical and doesnt really give you a piece a mind to your stereo system daily. Run it at 1ohm or get a bigger amp. A piece a mind is better then worrying everyday running something youre not even sure about yourself. Amps last a long time if ran properly.
