Should I get the DSC4125 over this amp?

There was a quote from it in the big ol' thread that tspence has over there about the 175.4 and trying to figure out if it was class d or a/b. It did like 123 or something like that before distortion levels got too high.

edit:

"He said he put it on the bench and the specs for continuous unclipped wattage per channel are as follows:

14v = 128-watts

13v = 111-watts

12v = 95 watts "

Lots of (refurb'd) power for cheap... - DIYMA.com

Looks like it doesn't perform as expected.

I just finished reading that thread. I think they agreed it was class-A/B.

Give me the link cause I don't see it? I see everyone saying it did at least 140 x 4 @ 4ohm.

mb since its a/b much cleaner sound, class d amps are not clean and i have not heard a good full range class d except zed audio
Uhhh Alpine PDX amplifiers are all Class D. They sound amazing.

If you are over heating one then you are doing it wrong, I ran a 150.2 in a enclosed amp rack and it never got hot.

pdx's have noise probloms its a known fact, i do not like the way they sound but hey its all opinion so. i have seen many pdx 1000.1 overheat, i listened to the pdx 4.100, for 250 dollars there are a lot of other amps id rather get. ???

Probably from idiots trying to run it at 1ohm.

Again I had a 600.1 ran it at 2ohm never got hot, warm yes but never hot to the point of thermal shutdown.

Those BB amplifiers are pretty nice, The Quart is alright my biggest gripe about it is its a single side traced board VS the BB that is dual side traced board. Meanding that the Quart will have a higher failure rate due to vibration and heat.

Not all Maxxsonics amplifier are like that but alot of them are. Mostly the Hifonics and the newer Autotek stuff.

Sure there might be better amplifiers for the price but you do get what you pay for.
