Should I get an amp for my speakers?

I recently installed 6-1/2" 3-way Kenwoods in the front and rear of my Suzuki Swift hatchback. The problem I'm having is that the speakers offer little to no bass and with the car being a little loud as well, I really have to crank up the volume to get anything solid out of them.

My Sony head unit outputs 17 RMS per channel and I find myself turning the volume up to 24-25 to really "rock out" and the volume nob maxes out at 34. What should I do? Should I feed the speakers more power with an amp or just install a simple yet solid sub/amp combo?

first, Get a different headunit. Then, return front and rear speakers, Then seal front doors, then buy 6.5 compononts and a front stage amp for them. badabing great sounding speakers

I'll suggest a JP8 amplifier. I believe you can wire your sub to 2 ohm. It's Dual voice coil 4 ohm, correct? JP8 @ 2 ohm does 900 watts.
