so i was driving 30mph on a 30mph street @ 11pm nighttime. the light turns yellow and i slightly gas it a little more leaving my rear tires on the crosswalk of the heading side of the intersection. my rear tires was at the end of the intersection when the light turned red. so about now, im cruisng around 35mph ish. then a cop busts a u-turn and pulls me over for running a red light and going 40mph.

1) this officer was a block down and could no way measure my speed rating when hes like 700feet away from me at the ONCOMMING side of traffic. by the time he made that u-turn, i even pulled over before he flashed his sirens

2) i doubt he could tell i ran the red because he wouldnt be able to see the white crosswalk marks at such far distance. i truthfully ran the yellow and my rear tires was on the end side of the crosswalk lines when it turned red

3) how likely am i to win the court case if i fight this ticket? do i stand a chance? (red light/40mph on 30)

inputs? advice? anything?

thanks all

the light was yellow before i entered the intersection.

it turned red when my rear tires were touching the crosswalk borders (those white lines for crosswalk markings). however, i was completely out of the intersection before the opposite side traffic light turned green.

no now you know taht out in vegas you get 1 ticket for running a red light, but 2 for running a yellow and gassing it, mabye 3 if the cop is a dick

excessive use of power

intention of running a red light

failure to yield - aka running a yellow light

its all BS imo

if i were you i would fight it

just make sure you have your story straight and DONT admit the light was yellow when you passed it. tell them the light was green and you never seen it turn yellow and you have no clue what the cop is talking about. also make the judge know it was night time and the cop was on the opposite side of the street coming head on about 700 feet away and by the time he turned around and pulled you over you had already stopped.

Judges tend to believe cops over the violators but if you make the cop look stupid enuff most of the time the judge will dismiss the ticket.

sometimes cops don't even show up in court and they throw out the case

always fight tickets when the cop is going the other diretion, cause the radar isnt always accurate.

also, if you have the time fight it anyway, up here alot of times the cop doesnt even show to the court case.

thanks for the replies everyone, its getting me even more motivated to appear in court.

i took kodak pics to show how much of a distance the officer was at when i was entering the intersection. i was standing at his position exactly he was when i was driving cross the intersection and i can gaurantee no one will see the crosswalk markings, mostly at night time. i couldnt even see it during the morning daytime and i have great vision.

wish me luck on my court date //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/ready2go.gif.6557fa3d88b9eaca9c7b8efb9cbd02ed.gif

it does, but attending traffic school takes off the point on the ticket and it doesnt add points to driving record. the limit in CA is you can attend traffic school for a ticket every 18 months. last time i attended was 14 months ago, hopefully the judge will let me attend this time.
