Capacitors do not stop lights from dimming. That's a common misconception.i just bought it so the lights wouldnt dim, so if its not helping with that, then ima take it back.. you see what im saying.. the lights dim just the same as it did before i got the cap. that and, how do i check and see if he wired it 4 instead of 2?
My friend bought someone's Kicker CVR's and a Dual amp and some cap. I told him to not get the amp or the cap. He said "I need the cap to keep my lights from dimming" I explained to him over and over why he doesnt need it. He got it.......IT was fun watching the meter drop fast. After about a minute or two of normal play, he was getting around 11volts. I just walked away....And he complains how it sounds like ***. I heard it a couple weeks ago....eww is all I can say. It was horrible. Some JVC HU was running it all.....Capacitors do not stop lights from dimming. That's a common misconception.
I don't think it's a misconception at all. The electrical system provides a finite amount of current at a finite voltage, as you play a system loud, huge bass hits draw big shots of current from the system, this can affect overall system voltage. As electrical system voltage drops, lights will dim, and when the voltage comes back up, the lights get bright again. A cap stabilizes this voltage drop, thus helping prevent lights from dimming. Everybody is real eager to hate on caps, but they are really just misunderstood. Hell, when the car is running, the battery functions as a capacitor, it just can't charge and discharge as fast. This is why on older cars you could change the battery out with the car running to prevent losing radio presets and anti-theft codes and such, though that is not recomended with modern computer controlled cars-the electical power comes from the ALTERNATOR, this runs the car and charges the battery, and feeds your amps. A cap will NOT help an ailing charging system, or a stereo system that is drawing more current than the alternator can provide, but in a car with a healthy charging system, they can do some good, as long as you know what to expect.Capacitors do not stop lights from dimming. That's a common misconception.
whoa now someone has got some skills if they can wire a sub to 4ohms instead of 2ohms on a dual 4 ohm subfirst things first, make sure the amp is properly adjusted along with the deck.second, how many ohms is the sub wired up? maybe someone installed it and wired it at 4ohm rather than 2ohm...who knows.
even if the box is THAT small, it should give enough bump to feel the bass at least.
and check out the bass track thread. what kind of songs are you playing while testing out your equipment?
