Should I change my amp?

I am currently using an alpine mrv-100 to run two 10 inch xtant subs (200 watt rms each). My friend recently gave me a rather cheap no name amp claiming to have 400 watts. I know the new amp will have its wattage listed significantly higher than it actually is.

Should I use the new amp bridged to put a supposed 200 watts into each sub at 4 ohms (giving each sub its own channel) and hope the sub puts out more than the 50 watts max each sub is getting now, or should I stick with the Alpine even though its only 100 watts because its actual power will be a lot closer to what is listed? I know I need to get a better amp either way, but I'm gonna be in college next year and won't have much money, so I'll take what I can get.

I guess my other option is to leave the Alpine on the subs and use the other amp to power the front comps I'm ordering until I can find a better amp for cheap. Any opinions would be appreciated since I'm very new to car audio.

Okay. That's what I figured would probably be the better option. What would be a decent cheap amp to replace the alpine (preferably a 4 channel amp that is bridgeable so I can run my comps on channels 1 and 2 and bridge 3 and 4 for my subs)? Would it be possible to find one for under $150?

Thanks
