should i buy some GM stock

Why should they not bailout GM when they are bailing out the banks? Especially when the GM bailout pales in comparison to the financial bailout.
People dont see it that way, and the media surely doesnt reflect it as well. All you've heard in the media for the last few months is that the economy is failing and the banks are tied to it. GM seems like this lone entity thats out there with its hand out begging for money too.

Obama nearly promised blue collar Detroit workers he will save/try to save the auto industry. Do you really think all those states would have went blue if he said he was going to throw them under the bus?

If they do bail out GM, I wonder how the govt will try to restructure legacy costs? Giving them billions won't do a lick of good if GM can't restructure itself. However, if it causes GM to cut pensions, I am confident there will be a backlash against Obama.

Most white retirees didn't vote for Obama.

You say quality rankings, now you are on to comparisons, now you put off national magazine rankings, then you drove by the tech center, and then you been in it, so how many times is our story going to change? Any

Do I care what Joe Blow down the street thinks about his Cobalt? Do I care that he thinks it's the greatest thing since sliced bread? That he ranked it 100% and 11/10 in every category because it's the best car ever? No, I don't.

Do Timex owners understand why people purchase Rolex's?

Will a Taurus owner be able to grasp someone spending $300K on a Phantom?

Of course I'm refering to comparisions when mentioning quality... What do you determine to be quality if you have nothing to compare to? The magazines are doing what every smart consumer should do - comparing the competition.

And as I mentioned, the commuter vehicles, the bread and butter vehicles, are typically failing.

As far as driving by and stopping at the Tech Center - excuse me for not clarifying, I was unaware we would be dissecting my wording here. Would you like to know for how long I was in the parking lot, scoping the scene? An approximation of how many foreign cars to how many domestic?

JD Power does their quality ratings by how many times a vehicle is brought in for service. It is a well respected publication in the auto industry but since you don't read it, it must not be true. I really don't know what the hell you are talking about with all your ramblings here.

I never said it wasn't true, but when I'm referring to "quality", I'm not only referring to reliability. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

As far as the rambling, yeah, I'll stick to sipping this Nyquil where I don't have a keyboard in reach.

Well you seem to have a subjective view of quality. In terms of reliability, the American cars are up there with the Asians. Whether you like the car or not, is subjective.

It's difficult coming from a car enthusiast board to another non-car board and discussing cars, I automatically assume everyone knows what I'm talking about. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Without a doubt American cars are up there with reliability, but unfortunately, reliability alone doesn't always sell cars.

Interiors, interiors, interiors.

Where do you spend almost all of your time? From design to fit and finish, materials, etc, the interiors seem to fall short of the competition.

Subjective looks may be, but there's a reason the new Malibu's are selling at MSRP as opposed to the previous one, which was discounted and rebated to all hell.
