Setting Gain and LPF on Premier GM-7150M 800W Amp

Hey guys. I read the tutorials at the top of the page but i still need some help. I just bought a new Pioneer (Premier) Gm-7150M Amp for my car. I am powering it to two custom 10" subs that came with my car. A guy I know installed the amp for me and set the gain and LPF for me but the other day I was cleaning my trunk so i decided to take out my subs. After cleaning I put the subs back in and I noticed the gain and lpf settings. I changed them to see any difference but I put the gain setting back to normal and i forgot what the LPF setting was originally. How can I set this LPF setting? Right now my subs pound bass at volumes of around 17. However, when i turn it up and louder from 17 the bass gets distorted and has a wierd sound to it. The gain on the amp is set to a position titled "Normal" on the amp. How do I know what is the right LPF to set at (the minimum for this amp is 40HZ and max is 240HZ)? Thanks!

Did you follow the tutorial for setting the gain? Usually distortion is going to be excessive gain. I highly recomend downloading the test tones provided and burning 50hz (for sub) and 1,000hz (for mids and highs) to a cd -3 DB files and using a voltage meter. I'm now blown away at how much better my system sounds.

Make sure you follow the instructions carefully.
