i have a aq2200 and i am wondering when setting my gains where should everything be set? if the gain is alll the way down would it be on .15 or 5v? where should the subsonic be set? and when setting my gains should i put the bass boost to where ever i want it to be. for my liking??

thanks

its impossibe to set a gain properly by ear bro... not properly atleast.. you can pick up a DMM for cheap, but if you must... just set the bass boost to 0 ... and the gain will depend on your HU... what voltage are your pre-outs?

not true, imho. i never end up satisfied with dmm set gains on my own systems. always end up going by ear and in the range i want to controll via head unit, though, it takes some bit of experience to do that

If you're not satisfied with your gains set by DMM, you need a better system bro. haha.

Back on point, just keep the gain conservative until you can get it set with a DMM. Maybe under a 1/4 of the way up? I'd set my gain by ear forever ago and thought it was fine, but when I did it with a DMM, I saw how far off I was. I was actually pretty close on the speaker amp, but the sub amp was way off.

have you ever hooked up an o-scope, after setting it by ear... can almost garuntee you'll be clipping...

what is a dmm?
digital multimeter

2.5v im not getting the gain all the way up. Im just giving it alittle so it can break in a little so the sub can break in. the when the SMD dd1 comes in. i will set the gains to full potential

yea, with 2.5v pre outs, your clipping point is going to be pretty low on your gain... so i would be pretty conservative with it, till the dd-1 comes in... and then, you might be suprised with the proper setting, lol

lol, guys. yes, it is my preference, when i set them. i set them differently, because i do not like the range, it usually does not allow me to turn the bass down low enough for kids to ride with me, or the bass sent to the mids is too high. way i have always, and always will do it. i would be a different story if it was not me bumping it, or for someone else, but a pretty much end up always wteaking for my own use. i shouldn't have said anything, i guess, this is an age-old debate that nobody ever wins, lol
