I'll second that!

But don't expect to get one for blue book. 6k can get you a solid turbo...probably with around 100k miles and usual old car wear.

They have a ton of potential and can be good at everything. A guy on the MR2 forum drags his car, running a 10 second 1/4, as well as autocrossing and hillclimbing it where he does really well. A stock turbo runs in the 14s. You can spend under $100 on a manual boost controller and boost gauge and be into the high 13s. Do bolt-on's and tires and you can get close to breaking into the 12s, all on the stock turbo and fuel system.

If you like turning too, you can do well in autocross, though the N/As do better than the turbos.

You can also get a turbo with high miles for cheap and swap in a V6 if you are good mechanically.

Plus it's a Toyota, so it's reliable too!

early 90's Mazda 626's were available with 4WS, i believe the model was the DX

My Ford Focus ST stock does 15.1 and I am doing low 14's with mild mods with intake, full exhaust and other very small things done to it. Last time I took it too the track was doing consistent 14.3's with it.
