SWINE FLU!!!!
So I'm selling my Nissan 300ZX because the guy who sold it to me turned out to be not as good of a friend as i thought.(lesson well learned though, always take car to mechanic before buying, whether from a friend or not).

long story short, he told me a few minor things that were wrong with it, i bought it, turned out it basically need a whole new engine, or engine rebuild. he said he'd help out with the cost because he felt bad. I figured he'd go like half and half with me, so i'd end up putting about 3.5k total into buying this car after it's fixed, well he only said he could put 300 toward the 3k rebuild instead of my hopeful 1.5k so i have to sell the car because i can't afford to do all that work to it.

So i'm looking for an older car. Preferably RWD, Fast stock but with potential. t-tops and or convertible would be a plus. Since i drive my 79 beetle convert. 7 months out of the year with the top down, i hate driving inside a car with no convert. now.

and when i say fast i don't mean like 10 second car. just something that's fast enough to have fun with, and bring it out to the strip every now and then.

i have about 6k to work with. any ideas?

the only way i really want to stay domestic, is if it's an older 'cool' car or a 94-96 Caprice. I was looking at a 77' Cadillac Deville the other day and I really liked it, but it was just under 8k, so i want to check my other options first...

That's a shame. I love those 300zx's.
me too. i'm actually looking at another one that's the same year with 60k original, 1 owner, excellent condition for 6k and it's a stick(mine was auto) so i'm going to go down to tennessee to check it out

Hell yeah dude. I say go for it. A 300zx is definently going to be on the top of my list when I start searching for a new car. Also, if you're looking for a fairly "quick" car for the money, the 200sx/Sentra SE-R's are pretty damn zippy.

I used to have a 1991 TT 300zx it was the worst car I ever owned. Don't get me wrong it's a nice looking fast car but it wasnt realiable , and repairs on it were very expensive because of the cramp engine bay.

Are you getting a refund for the car from your buddy? If you are stuck with it I would imagine there must be some other options available ..
For 2k you could get this beast
no refund. then i asked him if he would buy it back from me for 1.5k(i bought it for 2) and he said he didn't have that kind of money. so now i'm selling it to the mechanic whose shop it is in right now, for 11 hundred. best i can get for it.

and it's not just the engine... t-tops leak horribly, surface rust(which i can fix because i'm a painter) but there's 2 HUGE rust holes above the rear wheels that i didn't know about because they were covered by carpet...

too many problems, i just want to save the hassle and start fresh

i agree with justin89t, supras are the way to go, they hold their resale values like crazy and theyre all around excellent cars, plus they have aftermarket parts out the ying yang, dont go with the caddy, it may be quick off the line but those things have more weight then a big ***** ***** with a diet problem

the cadillac was more of a style car than a fast car. like my beetle. there are some cars i don't care how slow they are, i just like them.
