I am building my old 1993 Silverado for my son. The Kicker KSC460 (4x6) speakers I am putting into the rear pillars, won’t don’t into the dash (according to crutchfield). Does anyone recommend any other 4x6 speakers for the dash?

According to crutchfield, these are the one that will fit my dash. Or the only ones they carry.

If you need to go through Crutchfield, then you should get what they can offer, cross the dash speakers at 200HZ.

Other options:

With that configuration, I would skip the rear pillars altogether, limited power so concentrate efforts on where you can get the most out of that 4-channel amp (more on that later).

Find a decent, high-efficiency 6.5" for the front doors, coaxial if you must, and whatever you can fit in the dash, set the HP filter on the dash speakers at 200Hz,

The pioneers are fine for that duty, but there are better options out there at close to the same price.

I would put these in the dash, HP filter at 200Hz.

And a better option than utilizing the pillars would be to find a 2-ohm 6.5" option for the doors, as that amp outputs 90x2 at 2-ohms, better than 60x2 at 4-ohms.

Here's a decent 4-ohm option for the doors (2-ohm options coming up, retail source and budget dependent).

That's the budget end of what I'd do.

If you don't have to use Crutchfield, other options will do much better, at about or slightly more than your current budget.

For the same money as that kicker amp, this would allow you to power the doors, the dash, and the pillars!

100x6 @ 4-ohms, 200x6 @ 2-ohms, - OR - 2x100 @ 4 ohms & 2x400 at 4 ohms bridged - OR - 2x200 @ 2 ohms & 400x2 at 4 ohms bridged.

Not sure why Crutchfield doesn't list this, could be that when Stinger/AudioControl launches their new models, they often are heavily discounted (like the Stinger MT-4000.1, their 4K amp that routinely dynos at close to 7k that launched a couple of years ago at $399.00) to get the word out, and that may delay the 6-ch epic launch at Crutchfield.

This is a stellar amp for $10.00 more than the kicker.

If your goal is just to have sound in the truck then for sure just replace the old worn out speakers. If your goal is louder or more accurate sound then typically rear speakers are not needed and other gear will come into play. Does your son have expectations on what kind of stereo he would like or are you being kind and making sure he has something to listen to?

I had a very difficult time finding out if the front doors had speakers or not and when looking, found that the C1500s started putting speakers in the front doors in 1995.

In that case, consider something like these front and rear.

With a mounting depth of 1.7/8", it should fit and they are very good for 4x6 speakers.

As for the amp, there are many better options, really. Kicker is a good product, but it really doesn't compete in the sub $200.00 4-ch amp market.

150x4 at 4 watts, plenty to go around and plenty to spare for dynamic headroom. Just set the gains conservatively.

I'd also set the HP filter at 90-100Hz minimum.

And if that 150x4 scares you, you cannot touch this for the money (even at twice the price), it's as clean and noise-free as it gets, 100x4, compact and very high fidelity/res.
