Second battery

If you're buying 3 batts dont' waste your money before buying an HO alt. You'll get a better return for your money with the alt.

without the H.O. alt, you can't sustain anything except 12vdc
with the h.o. you have a better chance of maintaining 14+vdc
well i better start saving then huh.

Im not much of one for constant loud bass, i just like to turn it up every once in a while to get that wow from people. So for daily driving the system should handle just fine. Im not disagreeing though, i would be far better off with a HO alt.

id really like to do a dual alt setup instead, can anyone hint me in where i can get some info on brackets or dual alt setup info?

Hope im not thread jacking but trying to stay on topic of electrical

what car? that'll be a huge help.
why 3kw if you don't use it all everyday? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
generally dont bump full tilt all the time.. Like to have some power in reserve for when dipshit ricers pull up

Most people don't think 'wow'. They think dick //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Not sure how that is possible when the alt will only charge a little above 14 volts

mine in my aurora for over a year has charged at 15.1 in the summer whith air on and 15.4 whith no air

and apperently it is normal on the 1995-9 aurora

info on factroy chargeing whith upgraded grounding can be found here

You dont have to worry about the water that evaporates. Water vapor wont kill you. The sulfer acid in the battery wont evaporate, just the water in it does. This water will eventually deplete and render the battery worthless even quicker. Also, charging at above 14.4 volts will cause this water to evaporate quicker... Not too sure why GM designed the electrical system to push the absolute edge of Lead acid battery stability. I've heard several people say their DIC reads above 14.4 volts. Mine reads 15.4 volts, but measured with a calibrated DMM it is 14.9 to 15.2v which is WAY too high.
you can find quite a few story of the same on this fourm staeteing the same thing

Ok I'm back, I had to work and now I notice this threads gone on without me... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Anyways, I got the fuse idea now but I have another question. I have a 160 amp alternator and a red top battery under the hood as it is, with a Rockford Fosgate Punch 450.4 and an Alpine PDX 1.1000 in the trunk. Ever since I've upped the charging system I've noticed a big positive change in the car's performance. But my question is, If I were to add another PDX 1.1000 in the trunk with a second red top battery am I at risk of causing any damage to the car/stereo? Will the alternator be able to keep up with two red tops? Or am I at risk of damaging the car/stereo? And if it helps if anyone needs to know, I drive a 2003 Grand Prix GT.
