i would go with aroun 38-40hz ported to hit just about everything you would possibly want...... but sealed would be great for the higher frequencies that rock has compared to rap.

Based on the 187's efficiency bandwidth product (Fs/Qes), looks like it's much better suited for ported enclosures.

Rock is more midbass dependent, anyway.

its what i like..... 28-32 is teh lowz which are nice...... only saying make sure ur front stage mids are able to keep up with the midbass in rock. the only dissadvantage to tuning that low... 28-32hz is the decrease in the ability to reproduce a higher frequency is all.

Usually, low tuned boxes are "smooth" but tend to fall off quickly as the frequency goes up, so things like kick drums won't have much "snap" as with a higher tuning. If you have strong mids and a lot of power going to them you might be okay.

Personally I'd do around 38hz. Should be a pretty good blend of lows and better "punch".
